Benfica will entertain Braga in the Taca de Portugal quarter-final this Wednesday. This will be the third meeting between these two sides this season with the last two matches being split. Here’s our match prediction.
Benfica have been behind impressive results as of late. The hosts booked their spot in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 by achieving a 4-3 aggregate success in a two-legged knockout playoff against Monaco.
This was shortly followed by a 3-0 home beating of relegation-threatened Boavista in the Primeira Liga over the weekend, marking their fourth consecutive win.
They now turn their attention to the Taca de Portugal where they've had no luck since lifting the prestigious silverware in 2016-17. Since then, they've made it to the finals twice in seven appearances - with their most recent final being a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Braga.
Braga comes into this match brimming with confidence after dispatching Nacional de Maidera in a 1-0 home league victory on Friday.
The Archbishops have maintained a six-match unbeaten run across all competitions (W5, D1). They'll want to use this to their advantage to defeat Benfica - the record title holders in this competition (26).
