Benfica will host rivals Porto on Friday in the season’s second installment of the O Classico in their next Primeira Liga match. The two teams are separated by one point in the standings with Porto second and Benfica third. Benfica responded to their Champions League matchday one loss by defeating Portimonense 3-1 last weekend. The win extended their current winning streak in the league to five matches. This should have them confident of defeating Porto yet again this season. Roger Schmidt’s charges defeated Porto 2-0 in the Super Cup back in August to usher in a new season with victory. With leaders Sporting not playing until Saturday, a win here for either team will send them top for at least 24 hours.

Porto have dominated this fixture recently and have won four of the last six meetings. Two of those wins have come when away. Sergio Conceicao’s men will be confident of coming out on top again at the Estadio da Luz to maintain their unbeaten league start. Porto are one of two teams yet to lose a match this season in the league. The Dragons have won five of their six matches and are now tied with Sporting on 16 points. Porto defeated Gil Vicente 2-1 at home last time out and have now won their last three matches.
