League leaders Benfica host Portimonense in Round 15 of Liga Portugal Round 15. Benfica currently have a five-point lead over second-placed Porto with the visitors in eighth place, seven points adrift of the top five.  They have the best attack and joint-best defence in the division. The league leaders have also been dominant at home, with twelve wins and a draw in their last thirteen home games, and have scored two goals or more in all but one of those games. However, they suffered a setback in their last game, conceding their first competitive defeat of the season against Braga, a 3-0 defeat, which was also their heaviest league loss in the past three years. Benfica will be eager to bounce back from this loss and will be boosted by their strong recent record against Portimonense at home, with four wins and a draw in their last six meetings at the Da Luz. 

Portimonense have had a solid season so far, sitting in eighth place in the Liga Portugal and within striking distance of the top five. While they have struggled away from home, with five defeats in their last six away games and failing to score in those defeats. They have shown an ability to cause upsets and have already taken points off of some of the top teams in the league this season. However, they ended 2022 with a 2-1 home defeat against Casa Pia, their fourth loss in their last five games.  Another area of worry that the visitors will need to overcome is a poor recent record against Benfica at the Da Luz, where they have lost four of their last six meetings.
