Benfica Lisbon - Inter Milan: Form Analysis
Benfica are coming from a rare loss at home in the Portuguese league; they fell 2-1 to FC Porto despite having taken the lead in that game. That outcome ended their run of eight straight wins and it was also the second straight game they failed to score more than a goal. Benfica’s goal was actually scored by Porto’s Diogo Costa, an own goal after an error at the back. The Portuguese giants have however been among the best performers in the Champions League this season, and coming into this match, they have four straight wins. Benfica are unbeaten in 13 matches in the competition; their last loss having come in April 2022, against Liverpool. That is also their only loss in 18 Champions League games. This will be the first meeting between these two sides since 2004 in the UEFA Cup.
Inter Milan eliminated one Portuguese side in the last round of this competition and will be aiming at sailing past another. The challenge posed by Benfica is tougher though, and it finds them at a really shaky period. The Italians are coming from a 1-1 draw with Salernitana, a game in which they conceded in stoppage time to keep them without a win for six straight matches. Before that, they had been forced to score a late equalizer themselves to draw 1-1 with Juventus in a game that had three players sent off in stoppage time. Inter Milan have failed to score in three of their last five matches, and have one win in eight matches. Their away run also has six matches without a win and in the Champions League, they haven't won in the last three away matches. Inter have also failed to score in the last two of their away matches in the Champions League.

Benfica Lisbon & Inter Milan Squad Analysis
Two key players at Benfica will miss this encounter; former German international Julian Draxler, on loan from PSG, is ruled out after an earlier ankle surgery, while Goncalo Guedes has a knee injury. There is also a doubt that Mihailo Ristic will recover in time for this game, having struggled with a hamstring injury for a while now. Alexander Bah lasted just 26 minutes in the loss to Porto and could also be ruled out here. However, Goncalo Ramos who has been exciting in recent matches, as well as Alex Grimaldo will be on show.
Inter Milan will be without defender Milan Skriniar and Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu. The two are the only confirmed absentees for the Italian giants. Meanwhile, this will be a big game for Andre Onana, the goalkeeper looking to make amends for an error that allowed Salernitana to equalize late in their last outing.
