The odds are that the majority of the players in this match just don’t want to be there. They would rather be on their way home to lick their wounds, have a break, probably sort out some transfers and advertising deals and then get ready for the new season. Instead, they are still in Russia for a match to decide third and fourth place, like that’s the one thing all football fans are thinking of this weekend.  It’s likely that both sides will make a few changes for this game either to give other players some experience or because they are still emotionally drained from their midweek games.

Belgium have already beaten England once in this tournament and have a day and 30 minutes less pitch-time to recover from their loss to Brazil. England could break another record by losing three games in a World Cup finals for the first time and that’s the likely result in this game as we already know that Belgium have a deeper squad than they possess.  Trippier and Henderson are injury doubts and Gareth Southgate was being rather uncommital about whether Harry Kane would be playing on Saturday. Go for a Belgium win in this match but it doesn’t really matter that much.
