Belgium’s canceled friendly match against Iraq opened the door for the European nation to face off with Egypt in their only friendly match before embarking on the 2022 World Cup. This game will be staged in Kuwait as Belgium seeks to acclimatize before crossing to Qatar. Belgium’s last game, in September ended in defeat, as they fell 1-0 to the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League. It was their first defeat in five matches and also their first game without scoring in 50 matches. Before that game, the last time they had failed to score was in the 2018 World Cup defeat by France. Belgium have however managed just two clean sheets in the last 12 matches.

Egypt will go into this game straight from two wins – against Liberia and Niger. This game will be tougher than those two and Egypt will have to be at their best as they face one of the high-ranking nations in the world. In each of those two wins, Egypt scored three times, with Liverpool star Mohamed Salah scoring two of the six goals. The North Africans have registered three wins in five matches, their run dented only by defeats away to Ethiopia and Korea Republic. It is their away form that will bother them more, having failed to win any of the last four, and failing to score in four of their last five away games. Each of their last three matches has ended in over 2.5 goals.
