Bayern Munich welcome Austrian side RB Salzburg to Germany this week for a Wednesday night clash in the UEFA Champions League. Top of Group A with three wins from three, Bayern are five points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid. Salzburg, who are bottom of the group, are a further three points behind the Spanish side. An opening-day 2-2 home draw with Lokomotiv Moscow was as close as Salzburg came to getting a victory in this tough group. Yet Salzburg boss Jesse Marsch will be pleased with the fact that his side have scored two goals in each of their group matches thus far. That kind of attacking record gives them a good chance of getting a victory soon. That is unless the opponents are Bayern. As Salzburg found out in the reverse fixture, if you score two goals against Bayern then the chances are they will score six against you. The German giants suffered a slip-up at the weekend when they drew 1-1 at home to Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. However, these types of mishaps are rare occurrences for Bayern, a winning machine with an astounding record of 14 victories in a row in the Champions League, a competition best. Hansi Flick's players have scored at least three goals in 11 of those 14 games. Salzburg could be in for another heavy defeat.

The international break affected Flick's team selection at the weekend and we have to wonder how big a part fatigue is playing in his teamsheets. He has one of the deepest squads in Europe to select from though, and we expect Bayern to win by a wide margin. However, Salzburg can trouble a defence that hasn't kept a clean sheet in five games.
