Bayern Munich will be out to pile more pressure on Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen when they host Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday. The hosts are currently second after 19 rounds of play while Gladbach are 12th. Bayern sit two points off the pace and a win here could see them end the round top of the table. Thomas Tuchel’s men have won 15 matches, the same as Leverkusen, but Bayer’s unbeaten record gives them the edge. Bayern had to dig deep in a five-goal thriller with Augsburg last time out. It was their second successive victory which is the perfect response to a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Bremen. The record German champions haven’t had the best of times when they have been up against Gladbach. They did however win 2-1 in the reverse match to end a run of five games without a win in this fixture.

Borussia Monchengladbach have been in poor form recently. They arrive for this match having won just one of their last six matches. A further three games in this period have ended in defeat. They drew 0-0 with Leverkusen last time out. The point earned allowed them to remain nine points clear of the relegation zone. Gladbach have lost eight times in the league which is more than they have either won or drawn. They have accumulated 21 points and a sixth win could move them up to ninth and possibly seven points from the European places. Die Fohlen have had one of the worst away runs in the league. In the last two years, they have managed just two away victories in the Bundesliga. They currently haven’t won in six away games and have lost four times.
