Bayern Munich vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting Tips - Champions League
by Joseph King | in Champions League Predictions
Bayern Munich look to stage a desperate comeback when they host Manchester City for the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final. The Bavarians ultimately succumbed to a 3-0 defeat in Manchester, unable to contain the potent Manchester City attack. A first half Rodri strike was followed up with an additional two goals within a six minute time span in the second-half by Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland. Bayern are now staring at a heavy aggregate deficit and have it all to do here if they are to earn a spot in the semi-final. The winner of the Real Madrid vs Chelsea tie awaits either Bayern or Man City in the final four.

Bayern Munich - Manchester City: Form Analysis
It hasn’t been the best start to life in Munich for former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel. The 49-year-old Champions League winner has now won only two of his five matches in charge of the famous German club following his team’s 1-1 draw at home with Hoffenheim on Saturday. What is also concerning is that Bayern have managed only one clean sheet during that time, conceding a total of eight goals. Despite all of this, Bayern’s form at the Allianz Arena has been strong this season which should give fans some hope of a potentially sensational turnaround in this tie. Bayern have won 13 of their 19 outings in Munich and have been scoring goals for fun, hitting the back of the net no fewer than 56 times for an average of 2.95 goals per home match. They also have yet to concede at home in the Champions League this campaign.
Manchester City enter this second leg in arguably their best form of the season. The Citizens have won 10 consecutive matches across all competitions and have closed the gap considerably on leaders Arsenal as they look to defend their Premier League crown. Pep Guardiola will now look to deal a knockout blow to his former club as well as the manager that denied him his first Champions League title at Manchester City in 2021. His City side are on a remarkable run of goal scoring, netting 27 goals the last six games. Additionally, only twice in the last 10 matches have Manchester City failed to score at least three goals. Guardiola will be looking to make history here as the Catalan can become only the third manager to win 100 career Champions League matches.

Bayern Munich & Manchester City Squad Analysis
The news around the Bayern team in recent days has been the locker room altercation between Sadio Mane and Leroy Sane. Former Liverpool ace Mane reportedly punched the former Manchester City winger Sane in the mouth, resulting in the Senegalese being suspended and missing out on the team’s draw against Hoffenheim on the weekend. Mane will be back for this fixture, however, and is expected to start in his favored left wing role. Tuchel will still be without iconic goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and French defender Lucas Hernandez, both who have been out since the turn of the new year with serious injuries. Leading goal scorer Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is back in training and could get the nod up top for this one.
On the other side, Pep Guardiola has almost a full squad to choose from as his Man City team come into this fixture in good health. Wonderkid Phil Foden is the only absentee with the 22-year-old having recently undergone surgery for acute appendicitis. Expect the usual suspects to feature here with Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogen and Jack Grealish making up the attacking five in Guardiola’s unique 3-2-4-1 formation.
