Bayern Munich will be at home on Sunday against Augsburg looking to build on their emphatic Bundesliga opening day performance. The hosts are currently in second place while Augsburg are ninth. This could however change by the time they take to the pitch on Sunday evening. Bayern Munich began the campaign with an emphatic 4-0 win away to Werder Bremen. This was however not the biggest scoreline of the opening round. Tomas Tuchel’s charges will not be bothered by this and will seek to secure another win in their first match at home. Bayern have won the last two matches against Augsburg, scoring five goals in both. With their visitors struggling, the Bavarians will be confident of another win. Die Roten have been in good form in recent weeks though they did lose heavily in the Super Cup to RB Leipzig. That 3-0 loss broke a three-match consecutive winning run but they did quickly bounce back against Bremen.

Augsburg were involved in another high-scoring match in round one as they drew 4-4 at home with Borussia Monchengladbach. Enrico Maassen’s men clawed their way from 2-0 down and took the lead with a quarter of an hour to go. They could however not hold on to their lead and conceded a stoppage-time penalty. The result ended a three-match losing run but left them without a win in four games now. Augsburg have won two of the last five matches against Bayern. With Bayern exposed by Leipzig in the Super Cup, Fuggerstädter will fancy their chances here. They will however have to work on their defence if they are to come away with anything from this match. Augsburg have not kept a clean sheet in their last six games. They have conceded two or more goals a match in four of those fixtures.
