Bayer Leverkusen will be at home to take on Atalanta in the return leg of their round of 16 tie in the Europa League this Thursday. Atalanta have the advantage in the tie, leading 3-2 from the first leg played in Bergamo. These two sides go into the game on the back of mixed results, with the hosts coming from a  1-0 loss to Cologne in the German Bundesliga. That was their second straight loss, having earlier lost to Atalanta, and they have just one win in the last five matches. Leverkusen have however scored two or more goals in three of their last five matches. In those five matches, they have one clean sheet and have failed to score in one while three have produced over 2.5 goals. Twice in the last three matches though, Atalanta have failed to score. In the first leg meeting, Atalanta came from behind to take a 3-1 lead but Leverkusen pulled one back. That may be crucial in this fixture as the hosts need just one goal to level the tie, which they won’t find tough in their home form in Europa League. While Atalanta have three straight wins in Europa League they will have to be at their best here. Three of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals and in the Europa League, they’ve scored two or more goals in the last three. Atalanta dropped off from the Champions League, and the last time they played in Europa League was in 2018, here they come with one clean sheet in their three Europa League games this season.
