A great chance to temporarily build an 11-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings presents itself to Bayer Leverkusen as they host Mainz on Friday. This match at the BayArena will see the hosts start at the top of the standings with 58 points, while the visitors are in the relegation zone at 17th with 15 points. Leverkusen managed to extend their lead at the top to eight points over Bayern, thanks to the Munich side losing two games in a row. The hosts have in fact won three in a row in the league and have landed seven wins in their last eight.
