Barnsley have already been confirmed as finishing fourth in League One. They finish the regular season with a home game against Peterborough United are seventh in the table. Barnsley will meet either Bolton Wanderers or Derby County in the play-off semi-finals. They have only won one of their last four league games and last time out had an exciting 4-4 draw at MK Dons. Barnsley led early on but went into the 73rd minute 4-1 down. Three goals in 13 minutes rescued a point for them against the relegation-threatened opposition. Barnsley had lost their previous game 3-0 at home to now promoted Ipswich Town. That was a rare home loss as they'd won the previous nine league games at Oakwell with 28 goals scored. They'll hope for a repeat of the 2-1 win at Peterbrough in the reverse fixture.
Peterborough United have to win this match to keep their promotion play-off hopes alive. Even that might not be enough to get into the top six if Derby win at Sheffield Wednesday. If Derby draw, then Peterborough will need to win this game by a three-goal margin to finish sixth. They are also not in the best of form with only four points being earned from their last four League One fixtures. Peterborough have won ten away league games this season but been beaten in 11 with just one draw. This is no time for a second away draw of the season. They have won four of their last five away league games, the other being a 2-0 loss at struggling Cambridge United. None of the four wins (with 13 goals scored) have come against a top ten side. Back Barnsley to get a win and condemn Peterborough to another season in League One.
