Barcelona vs Real Madrid Prediction & Betting Tips - LaLiga
by Steve Ashfield | in LaLiga Predictions
Last weekend was a bit of a rarity in La Liga with both Barcelona and Real Madrid losing. Real are third in the table, with Barcelona down in ninth but with a game in hand. Barcelona had a troublesome build up to this new season with the possibility of Lionel Messi departing. He’s still with them but this could well be his last season at Barca. They have made an inconsistent start to the season with two wins, a draw and a defeat. That has left them four points off the top of the table, though Real Sociedad have played two more games. Barca were in great form for the first two games of the new season, beating Villarreal 4-0 at home and Celta Vigo 3-0 away. They haven’t built on that good start though, being held to a 1-1 home draw by Sevilla and a 1-0 loss away at Getafe. Only two goals have been conceded in four league games but just one scored in the last two. Only two of the last five home league games has been won, which is very unlike Barca. They showed improvement in midweek though with a 5-1 home win over Ferencvaros in the Champions League.
Not having such a good time in that competition were Real Madrid. They lost their opening group game 3-2 at home to Shakhtar Donetsk after trailing 3-0 at half time. Real Madrid began the defence of their La Liga title with a draw at current leaders Real Sociedad. The next three league games all ended in victory for Real, though they needed an own goal and a penalty in their 3-2 win at Real Betis. Then came the shock home loss to newly-promoted Cadiz. Despite 75% possession, they lost 1-0 and the visitors were allowed 14 goal attempts. Real are unbeaten in their last eight away league games. They have scored in 11 of their last 13 away La Liga fixtures. Three of the last four league visits to Barca have been drawn, with their last win in 2016. Another La Liga season without an away win in Barcelona looks likely here.

Our Barcelona vs Real Madrid Prediction
Barcelona have made a steady start to the new season. There have been some big wins and an away loss to Getafe last weekend. Midweek saw them in good form and they remain tough to beat at home. Real Madrid come into this game on the back of two unlikely defeats by Cadiz and Shakhtar Donetsk. A bet on Barcelona winning with both teams getting on the scoresheet looks the one to make.
