Barcelona vs Real Madrid Prediction & Betting Tips - Copa del Rey
by Joseph King | in Football Predictions
Barcelona host Real Madrid at the Camp Nou for the return leg of the Copa del Rey semi final with the winner taking on either Athletic Bilbao or Osasuna. This will mark the fifth edition of the famous fixture in the 2022/23 season and it has been Barcelona who have gotten the better of their eternal rivals so far. The Blaugrana won the first leg by a score of 1-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu back in the beginning of March, making it three consecutive wins over Madrid for the Catalan giants. The visitors now know they will have to walk away from Barcelona with a win if they are to keep alive their hopes of winning a first Copa del Rey title since the 2013/14 season.

Barcelona - Real Madrid: Form Analysis
Barcelona enter this match in strong form following their comprehensive 4-0 away victory over Elche on the weekend. The win was the fifth in a row for the heavy title favorites, putting them a full 12 points ahead of second-place Madrid in the La Liga standings. Domestically, Barcelona are unbeaten at the Camp Nou this season with 12 wins and two draws in 14 matches across the league and cup combined. Xavi’s side did suffer a home defeat only once across all competitions this campaign, coming at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stages. Barcelona have been powered all season by their superb defensive form, which has seen the club remarkably only concede nine goals in 27 league fixtures so far.
Madrid will have the unenviable task of trying to breach this Barcelona backline but should be high in confidence following the team’s 6-0 thrashing over Valladolid on Sunday. Striker Karim Benzema netted a first-half hat trick in the span of only seven minutes in that match, moving the 35-year-old Frenchman to second in the race for this season’s Pichichi with 14 goals from only 17 appearances in the league. The victory was an emphatic response after Los Blancos had fallen 2-1 to their opponents today on this ground prior to the international break. Madrid have now won three of their last four matches across all competitions and are still on course for a Champions League and cup double if they can successfully navigate Wednesday’s clash in Catalonia.

Barcelona & Real Madrid Squad Analysis
Barcelona come into this Clasico matchup as the more banged up of the two sides. Xavi will be without the quartet of Frenkie De Jong, Pedri, Ousmane Dembele and Andreas Christensen, all who missed out on the win over Elche as well. The hosts are likely to hand another start to starlet Ansu Fati after the 20-year-old bagged a goal on the weekend. He will accompany La Liga leading scorer Robert Lewandowski and one of either Raphina or Ferran Torres to make up the front three.
Madrid will hope to have the services of defender Antonio Rudiger for the trip to Barcelona after the German missed out on Sunday’s match citing knee discomfort. Aside from full back Ferland Mendy, manager Carlo Ancelotti has nearly a full squad to choose from here. There shouldn’t be too many surprises in this Madrid starting 11 with the midfield likely to be manned by Modric, Kroos and Tchouameni while the trio of Benzema, Vinicius Jr. and Valverde will likely lead the line.

Our Barcelona vs Real Madrid Prediction
The fourth meeting between these two teams this season means that each side will be very familiar with the other’s style of play. The result could very well turn out to be a tightly-contested tactical battle between two of the top three defensive units in the Spanish Primera Division. The nature of knockout football also lends itself towards a lower-scoring encounter, as evidenced by their first leg meeting in the beginning of March. It may be difficult to separate these two sides on the scoreboard with only a goal or two likely to be scored in this one. Our Barcelona vs Real Madrid prediction: under 2.5 goals
