With 12 matches remaining in La Liga, Barcelona and Huesca can’t say they are where they’d have liked to be at this point in time. Barcelona hosts Huesca on Monday with the two sides seeking three points to satisfy very different ambitions. The hosts are currently second in the standings with 56 points while Huesca are bottom of the table with 20 points. It has been a tough season for Barcelona and they go to this game having also failed with their European targets. They’re coming from a 5-2 aggregate loss to PSG, marking another humiliating exit from the Champions League. Last season they went without a trophy, which triggered massive changes and not much has changed, but this season they still have two fronts to fight in – La Liga and Copa del Rey. Focus at the moment is on La Liga and with three straight league wins, with clean sheets, they’re on the right footing for this clash. They are unbeaten in 16 La Liga matches and at home, they haven’t lost a league game in the last 10. Their only loss at home was inflicted by Real Madrid in the El Clasico; Barcelona have eight wins in their 13 home matches. They’ve secured 28 points from a possible 39 in home league matches this season. The Catalans’ season has also been hampered by injuries and going to this game they will miss the services of Gerrard Pique, Ansu Fati, Philippe Coutinho, Sergi Robeto and Ronald Araujo.

As for Huesca, by the mere fact they are bottom of the table, they aren’t having their ambitions in the season achieved. They are the team with the least wins (3) but can salvage their season, being just four points below the 17th placed team. With 12 games to play, they can actually start their survival push and finish high, the problem is that the first of those 12 is an away match against a wounded Barcelona. Three wins in their last 15 La Liga matches isn’t the run to inspire confidence they can get three points at Camp Nou, and they have eight losses in the process. In 20 away league matches, dating back to 2019, Huesca have managed just one win. With just one win in the 13 away league matches this season, they carry the worst away form in the league and they’ve collected just nine points from a possible 39 in away matches.
