Barcelona are back in their element after that loss to Real Madrid in El Clasico. They thrashed Athletic Bilbao 4-0 to win the Copa del Rey and will be looking to mount another serious charge for the La Liga title. Barca had no league engagement over the weekend and they’re third, with 65 points. Next on their roster is a home game against 15th placed Getafe, who are on 31 points. Barcelona are currently five points below leaders Atletico Madrid but have a game in hand and a win will push them to second. They are clearly going for a double, with La Liga the only title they are playing for at the moment and in Lionel Messi’s form, they’re sure to trouble Getafe. The Argentine has scored six goals in the last five matches and Barcelona now only need to tighten up at the back, having kept just two clean sheets in their last six matches. They have one loss in 20 league matches and are in a very good position to extend that, as they play at home, where they are unbeaten in 12 league games.
Getafe gave Real Madrid a tough time in their last match, and walked away with a point in a 0-0 draw. They also drew 0-0 with Atletico Madrid earlier, and will be aiming for the same against Barcelona, or even better and if they can get something from the game, it will be a big boost, being just four points above the relegation positions. Getafe have no win in their last six league matches; they’ve drawn four and lost two. In the last five they’ve scored only one goal, and conceded two. They will be the underdogs here, carrying to the game one win and seven losses in the last 13 league matches. While they haven’t won a lot of matches lately, Getafe haven’t also conceded a lot; in only two of their last 10 league games have they conceded more than a goal. They have no win in the last six away league matches, with five losses therein and only two wins in the 14 away league games this season.
