It’s the clash of the big titans as Barcelona host Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals. This first leg match at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys between the Catalans and the Rojiblancos on Tuesday comes with our prediction of over 2.5 goals.
Barcelona have the most number of titles in this competition with 31, while Atletico have won this title ten times. That Catalans picked up a 2-0 away win at Las Palmas for a fifth consecutive win in all competitions.
Coupled with results elsewhere, they have stormed to the top of the standings and will look to focus on this competition. The hosts have already dismantled two fellow La Liga sides this year in Copa del Rey – a 5-1 home win over Real Betis and a 5-0 away win at Valencia.
Atletico also had successful results in this competition, thrashing Elche 4-0 away and winning 5-0 at home against Getafe. However, their recent form needs to improve to hope for a win here.
A 3-0 away win at Valencia helped stop a two-game drawing sequence, both by a 1-1 score against Real Madrid and Celta Vigo.
