The hosts have a 11-point advantage over Real Madrid going into this weekend’s matches while the visitors are two points behind Real. It has been a poor couple of weeks for Barcelona who have been dumped out of Copa del Rey by Real Madrid in a 4-0 demolition followed by two goalless draws. They are without a goal in three straight competitive matches and the continued absence of Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Ousmane Dembele is showing. A return to home venue may lift the spirits as they scored in 12 of their last 13 league matches at Camp Nou. They are also unbeaten at home all season in La Liga which could boost their morale coming into this crunch match.

Atlético are pushing Real for the second place and will consider they are in the best form coming into this match to achieve that. The visitors are on a 13-match unbeaten streak in the league and are easily one of the best in-form teams in the league, if not in Europe. They defeated Almeria 2-1 in their last round to make it six straight league wins. Incidentally, their last loss in the league has come against Barcelona when they lost 1-0 at home back in January. Hopes of taking revenge in this trip will hinge on how well they can continue their recent away form. Atlético have won four of their last five away league matches, drawing the other, and will be eager to continue that impressive record.
