Balestier Khalsa have had a mixed start to the new Singapore Premier League season. They are fourth in the table and host Hougang who are a place and a point below them. The home side didn't get their season off to a good start as they lost 1-0 away at current leaders Tampine Rovers. Their first home league game of the season nearly produced three points. They led twice in the game against Albirex Nilgata but conceded an 89th minute equalizer. Their first league win finally came as they won 2-0 away at Young Lions, who have lost all three of their games this season and prop up the table. Balestier Khalsa finished bottom of the league last season and they have gone ten home games without a win.

Hougang finished third in the table last season but have only played two league games this term. They started off with a good 4-1 win at struggling Young Lions. It's been downhill since then though with a loss in the AFC Cup before losing in the league 2-1 at home to Geylang (currently second in the league). Three of their last five away games have been lost but will hope to repeat their previous visit to Balestier, which ended in a 4-3 win. The tip for this game is for both teams to score.
