The already-eliminated Sweden will look to put a spanner in the playoff hopes of Azerbaijan when the sides meet at the Tofig Bahramov Stadium on Thursday. This Group F match of the Euro qualifiers will see Azerbaijan start on fourth with four points and the visitors third with seven points. Azerbaijan have an outside chance of qualifying for the Euros via playoffs, but on current form they look way off the pace. They lost 1-0 to Austria last time out in the qualifiers which made it four defeats from their six matches in the campaign. Three of those losses including one against Sweden saw them fail to score, underlining a massive area of concern for the hosts.

Sweden were eliminated after their last round qualifier against Belgium was abandoned at half-time after a shotting in Brussels. The 1-1 halftime score stood as final result knocking the Swedes out of the qualification race. Their nine-point gap to top-two can’t be bridged despite a game in hand over the teams above. Sweden have had an up-and-down tournament in the qualifiers losing three games and winning only two. One of their wins was a 5-0 drubbing of Azerbaijan in the return fixture. They have indeed won all their three matches against Azerbaijan in the past and should fancy their chances of continuing that trend, as they have won four of their last six away Euro qualifiers.
