Australia top the group after three of ten games with seven points out of nine. It's tight at the top though with Australia only ahead of Saudi Arabia on goal difference with UAE and Japan a solitary point behind. Australia have so far beaten Iraq 2-0 at home and then travelled to UAE for a 1-0 win and a 2-2 draw in Saudi Arabia. They trailed 1-0 in that game but did lead Saudi Arabia 2-1 before a goal 11 minutes from time denied them a third straight win in the group. Japan's campaign got off to a bad start with a 2-1 home defeat by UAE. They have recovered well though with a 2-0 win in Thailand and a 2-1 win over Iraq but it took a 95th minute winner to get them the three points. Their two wins have come against the bottom two sides in this group who have lost all their games. Australia are getting points against better teams, are strong at home and can get the win here.
