Borussia Dortmund, assured of second spot, will seek to stay in the Bundesliga title chase when they travel to Augsburg. Hosts Augsburg are four points above the relegation region while Dortmund trail leaders Bayern by a point. Augsburg need three points from their remaining two games to be assured of survival. They will hope to bag them here, to avoid pressure in the final game, away from home. A run of just one win in nine matches, however, gives a prediction of what might occur here. They tried to fight in their last game, but still came short in a 3-2 away loss at Bochum. That came after a surprise win over fourth placed Union Berlin, and it is the inconsistency that has highlighted their season. Defence is Augsburg’s biggest shortcoming; they have one clean sheet in the last 11 league games. However, their scoring returns are impressive, having scored in 10 straight league games. They’ve failed to score in just one of 17 league matches.

Borussia Dortmund will be looking to keep the pressure on Bayern Munich in the title race, with a win here. Given Bayern play a day earlier, the pressure will be on Dortmund to better or match their result. The visitors are on a more stable run than Augsburg coming into this game, unbeaten in six matches. Nine times in their last 10 league matches, Dortmund have scored two or more goals. However, they have just two clean sheets in the said 10 league games, with both sides scoring in eight. Dortmund dropped their guard a bit in the latter stages of their last game, conceding twice in a 5-2 win over Monchengladbach.
