Atletico Madrid are second in La Liga but seven points behind Barcelona. They have had an impressive week with an away win at Rayo Vallecano and then a great 2-0 Champions League home win over Juventus. Those wins followed two league defeats that have given the advantage at the top to Barcelona. The home loss to Real Madrid is their only home league defeat in La Liga this season. Before the loss they had won four home league games in a row and not conceded a single goal. Atletico have the best defensive record in the league with only 17 conceded and just seven in 12 home league games (nine of which have been won).

Villarreal don't boast anything like a good record as their opponents. They are in the relegation zone and a point from safety. They have only lost one of their last five league matches but have only a single victory in the last 11. That one win was at home to Sevilla last weekend but their away record is a big worry with only four points (all draws) from their last eight on the road with the last away victory being at the end of September. Atletico have the better form and can get the win here.
