Atletico Madrid will look to continue their good start to the 2023-24 La Liga season when they play host to Sevilla on Sunday. These sides have made contrasting starts to the campaign, with the hosts currently in second place after three matches while the visitors are at the foot of the table. Atletico will come into this match brimming with confidence after smashing Rayo Vallcano 7-0 last weekend. It was an absolute demolition at Estadio de Vallecas, with as many as six Atletico players getting on the scoresheet. That result came after a hard-fought point against Real Betis and a 3-1 win over Granada on opening weekend. Colchoneros finished in third place for the second consecutive time last season, though they did manage 28 points more than their opponents in this match. The hosts are on a ten-match winning streak on home soil and unbeaten in their last 13 in all competitions. They are also the clear favourites in this match at the books. 

Meanwhile, had it not been for winning the Europa League, last season would have been something of a disaster for Sevilla. They ended the season in 12th place, down from fourth in the previous campaign, and just nine points above the relegation zone. Unfortunately, things do not seem to have improved this season. They come into this fixture following three consecutive league defeats against Valencia, Alaves, and Girona, while they were also beaten by Manchester City in the European Super Cup. Sevilla are the only side in La Liga that is yet to register a single point this season, and it seems unlikely they will be able to change that here. The Red and Whites have failed to beat Atleti in their last three attempts, which included a 6-1 loss at this venue last season.
