The clash between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid is alwas a big one and this time, it will be a battle for not just second place, but pushing to be the closest challenger to leaders Barcelona in La Liga. Real are eight points behind Barca in the race, being third on the log with 42 points and Atletico are just ahead of them on two points. Most of Real’s woes this season have been down to a bad start, which can be attributed to the key departures o0f manager Zinedine Zidane and talisman Cristiano Ronaldo. They have however improved a lot lately and head to this game on six unbeaten matches, with five wins and they have four back to back wins in the league. They have not lost any of the last four away league games too, and will be hoping to extend the good run that has seen them score at least twice in each of the last three away matches in the league. Real closed in on Atletico, who suffered a shock loss to Real Betis in their last outing and will be hoping to go second with a win here. That loss was the first one in the last 20 matches for Atletico and only the second in La Liga this season. They had last lost a league game in January 2018. They are still unbeaten at home in La Liga this season and ahead of this game they have four straight home wins in the league, and have not conceded a goal in the four.
