Both Atletico Madrid and FC Porto have had strong starts to the season domestically and they hope to extend the same to Europe, being undefeated so far. Spanish side Atletico hosts Portuguese giants Porto in the Match Day 1 clash at Wanda Metropolitano, coming from a run of three wins in four matches. In their most recent game, Atletico came from behind to beat Espanyol 2-1, that being the third of four games that they’ve scored two goals. Three of their last four matches have produced over 2.5 goals and they’ve had to come from behind in the last two matches. Atletico have two straight losses in Champions League and only two clean sheets in their last 10 matches in the competition, while they’ve failed to score in four. They’ve also not won any of their last three at home, a run they will be looking to change.

Porto also had to come from behind in their weekend game, to draw 1-1 with Sporting Lisbon in the Primeira Liga. They may have desired a different result but that draw pushes their run now to 15 matches unbeaten in competitive action, with 11 wins in there. They’ve scored two or more goals in three of their last five matches and they’ve scored in each of their last 15 away matches across all competitions. Both sides have scored in all of Porto’s last four away matches. In their last nine Champions League matches, they have six wins and two losses and away from home, they have six wins in 10 in the same competition.
