Atletico Madrid are on a eight game unbeaten run in the league and will be looking to close the gap on runaway leaders Real Madrid. The Champions welcome Mallorca to the Wanda Metropolitano for this crucial La Liga fixture. The home team are in second position with 29 points from their 14 matches while the visitors are in 14th position with 16 points from 15 matches. Atletico are seven points behind their city rivals Madrid although they do have a game in hand. They are unbeaten at home in the league but three draws have seen them drop points at home. Atletico have not lost a home league match in 14 games. They did however lose their last match at home when they were beaten 1-0 by AC Milan in the Champions League. That defeat has left their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread.

Mallorca have 16 points and are firmly entrenched in mid table but know that a defeat could see them drop to near the dreaded relegation zone. Thye are currently four points above the relegation zone. Mallorca area on a decent run of form having only lost once in their last seven matches. They have had five draws in this period. In their seven away matches this season they have just the solidary win with four losses and two draws. Mallorca have failed to win at the Wanda Metropolitano in their last eight matches and the last time they recorded a win away to Atletico was in 2006.
