After their 1-1 draw in Valencia, Atletico Madrid and Levante will switch to Madrid right away for their La Liga clash this Saturday. Hosts Atletico lead in the league standings by 55 points and Levante are 11th with 28 points. Atleti will not view the Wednesday result with much pleasure, and will be hoping their game in hand counts this weekend. They’ve now drawn two of their last three league matches but the biggest concern will be the lack of clean sheets lately. The league leaders have none in the last six matches even though they remain the best defensive side in the league so far. In the last five matches Atletico have conceded seven goals, but they’ve scored 12. Much improvement can be expected in coming games though, as the Covid-19 situation improves at the club. Defence minded Mario Hermoso and Yannick Carasco as well as striker Joao Felix have recovered from Covid and all played a part in the Levante game. However, Hector Herrera and Thomas Lemar remain unavailable. The hosts aren’t expected to have problems opening up Levante, as they’ve scored in 16 of the last 18 matches. In the two they’ve failed to score, Atletico have lost. Atletico will be fired up playing at home, where they’ve done so well lately. In their last 22 league matches at home, Atleti are unbeaten, and they have eight wins in the last nine. They have seven clean sheets in their last 10 league matches at home and have scored two or more goals in four of the last five.

As a mid-table team, Levante will be happy to have gained a point off Atletico in the last game. However, it is bound to get harder in their trip to the capital, where they head without a win in the last four matches. In their last 10 matches, Levante have won just twice inside 90 minutes. In Copa del Rey, they registered an extra time 1-0 win over Villarreal and beat Fuenlabrada on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Their only win in La Liga in the last six matches was against Real Madrid and they’ll be hoping for a repeat on their return to Madrid. Levante’s biggest struggle has come in attack, where they have managed more than a goal in just one of the last five matches. It has also not been entirely good defensively, with the team posting just one clean sheet in the last 16 matches. In La Liga action, they have no clean sheet in their last 12 matches and one win in nine away league matches will not augur well with their ambitions for this game. In the 11 away league matches Levante have played this season, they have no clean sheet.
