Atletico Madrid were runners up to Barcelona last season. They were never really in a position to become champions though and finished the season 11 points behind the champions. The summer has seen them make some good signings but also lose valuable players. Out of the club have gone Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona, Rodri to Manchester City and Lucas Hernandez to Bayern Munich. That trio saw them receive close to £250m in transfer fees, Major new signings have been Jao Felix from Benfica for £113m who was impressive in both domestic and European competition last season. Marcos Llorente has joined from Real Madrid and their defence now has Tottenham's Kieran Trippier. Preseason went well, especially the 7-3 win over Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup. They also recorded wins over Juventus and an MLS All-Stars side. Home form was strong last season with 15 wins out of 19 with only one loss to Real Madrid. Only two of their last 40 home league games have been lost.

2018/19 was a big season for Getafe as they finished fifth in La Liga. It was a bit disappointing in the end though as they had spent time in the Champions League places but had to settle for the Europa League instead. At least they qualified for the group stages so no qualifiers for them. They missed out on Champions League football by two points after earning only five points from their last five league games. During the summer transfer window, Getafe signed striker Enric Gallego from relegated Huesca and Faycal Faer from Caen but overall expenditure was just less than £9m. That shows the gap between the rich teams in La Liga and the rest of the sides. They were the away draw experts last season with 11 out of 19 ending level but they only won four matches. They haven't won at Atletico since 2011, since then they have lost eight games in a row conceding 22 goals without getting on the scoresheet themselves (25-0 if you include a Copa del Rey tie). The last four away league games at Atletico have all finished in a 2-0 defeat. Go for a home win in this match.
