Atletico Madrid vs Celtic Prediction & Betting Tips - Champions League
by Nella Wagah | in Champions League Predictions
Celtic will travel away to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday seeking to register their first win of this season’s Champions League. The Bhoys have only one point from their first three group games and that's left them three points behind Lazio in third (who they have to play away at the end of this month) and four adrift of second placed Feyenoord who they host in their final fixture. Atletico Madrid are a point clear at the top with five points and will be confident of securing another win here to strengthen their position.

Atletico Madrid - Celtic: Form Analysis
Atletico Madrid saw a nine-match unbeaten run come to an end last Friday as they went down 2-1 away to Las Palmas. The loss saw Diego Simeone’s men drop six points off the pace in La Liga. They will now look to bounce back and get three points here to boost their chances of qualifying for the knockout rounds. Atleti are the only team remaining in Group E yet to have suffered defeat. They have picked up five points from their three games and their only victory came when beating Feyenoord 3-2 though they had to come from behind twice to get the victory. Their other group games both ended in draws. The opening fixture produced a 1-1 draw at Lazio who equalized in the 95th minute. Their most recent group match was a 2-2 draw at Celtic, again having to come from behind to avoid defeat. The Rojiblancos haven’t lost at home since January and have won 15 consecutive competitive fixtures at Wanda Metropolitano.
Celtic are fighting to keep their chances of qualifying for the last 16 alive. A loss in Spain could see the Celts even struggling to finish third and move into the Europa League. They will be frustrated at not beating Atletico Madrid in the reverse fixture as a win would have totally changed their position in this group. They began this group with a disappointing 2-0 loss at Feyenoord and then lost 2-1 at home to Lazio. That saw them heading for a point but then conceding a 95th minute goal. With the lead against Atletico twice being lost in their most recent game, it's been a rather frustrating time for them. It's all very different from their domestic campaign where they now top the Scottish Premiership by eight points. Celtic are unbeaten in their last six matches but have no wins in their last six Champions League away matches.

Atletico Madrid & Celtic Squad Analysis
Samuel Lino remains sidelined for Atletico Madrid with injury and so too are Memphis Depay and Thomas Lemar. Rodrigo De Paul will miss out too here but due to suspension. The midfielder was sent off during the closing stages of the reverse match with Celtic. He is the only player who will be absent from the team that played against Las Palmas last Friday. Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezman scored to earn the point in Scotland and should be expected to lead the line again here. The two have scored a combined 19 goals between them this season.
Luis Palma and Kyogo Furuhashi scored at home against Atletico. They are two of four players to have scored more than twice this season, Matt O’Rilley and David Turnbull are the other two. Turnbull and Palma scored over the weekend and both are definitely in the running to start in Madrid. Furuhashi on the other hand has scored in Celtic’s last two Champions League fixtures. Reo Hatate will continue to be sidelined due to a calf injury sustained against Atletico.
