Atletico Madrid vs Athletic Bilbao Prediction & Betting Tips - Super Cup

La Liga champions Atletico Madrid take on Athletic Bilbao in the second semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup. The winners take on either Barcelona or Real Madrid in the final of this tournament held in Saudi Arabia. Atletico are unlikely to win La Liga again this season and are currently fourth, 16 points behind leaders Real with only one game in hand. They come into this match on a three-game unbeaten run. That's a good recovery after losing the previous three matches. A good performance here would certainly boost their confidence even further.

Athletic Bilbao are the Spanish Super Cup holders. They surprised both Real Madrid and Barcelona last year, when this event was played in Spain. 2021 also saw them manage to lose two Copa del Rey finals in the space of a few weeks. They are a good cup side, so Atletico have to be careful here. Bilbao are currently ninth in La Liga, five points behind Atletico. Current form has seen them win three of their last five games, only losing to Real Madrid. One win was over Mancha Real in the Copa del Rey (they play Barcelona in the next round) with the league victories being against Osasuna and third placed Real Betis. Both those sides have lost two of their last three games.  Form before those wins was poor with no wins in eight games. Only two of their last ten away games have been won. Back Atletico to win this in a low-scoring game.
