Atlanta United may have finished two points behind the New York Red Bulls in the regular Eastern Conference league table but they are in good form at present. They have only lost one of their last five matches and have already accounted for New York City in the MLS play-offs. Their quarter final tie saw Atlanta win the first leg 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal by their Argentinian striker Eric Remedi. The second leg saw a comprehensive 3-1 home win for Atlanta with another of their South American stars in fine form. Josef Martinez scored in each half to help his team to a 4-1 aggregate victory. He's scored 33 goals this season, more than any other player in the MLS. Home form for Atlanta has seen them win their last five and they are unbeaten in their last 11.

The last home defeat Atlanta suffered was in May and it was the New York Red Bulls who achieved that feat. They didn't have the easiest of times in their quarter final match losing the away first leg to Columbus Crew 1-0. Back on home territory they did much better winning 3-0 to reach this semi-final, though the aggregate scores were still level at 1-1 with 17 minutes to go. That first leg loss is their only defeat in the last eight games but it does highlight the fact they aren't always at their best away from home. That was their sixth defeat of the season and they have only won two of their last seven matches on the road. Atlanta can be backed to get a home win here.
