The first of Group E matches at the MLS is Back Tournament will see Atlanta United take on New York Red Bulls this Sunday in Orlando, Florida. This group also has Cincinnati and Columbus Crew which are considered the weaker sides in the pool. It thus means the Atlanta – NY Red Bulls match is a very important one for the sides, as far as topping the group is concerned. In their last competitive match, back in March, Atlanta United were 3-0 losers in the Champions League at the hands of Mexican side, América but they had opened their MLS campaign on a high, with two straight wins. They will hope to do better defensively here, having managed just one clean sheet in the earlier five matches before football was stopped.

The 2018 MLS champions have not had the best run away from home in the league in recent times, and here they head with a run of five losses and four wins when playing away from the Mercedes Benz Stadium. They have however avoided defeat in their last two away MLS matches, beating Nashville 2-1 in their last away match after a 1-1 draw with Montreal Impact earlier. Only three clean sheets have come in their last 10 away league matches, the more reason they will want to summon a better defensive approach here. The last time these two sides faced off, we had six goals scored as they drew 3-3 but New York RB have been dominant in recent matches, with four wins in the last six. Atlanta United have managed one win in the process.

Red Bulls on the other hand, had started their MLS campaign with a win and a draw before the forced break. They had already beaten Cincinnati, their opponents in this group, 2-1 then went on to draw 1-1 with Real Salt Lake away from home. Just like Atlanta United, they will also hope to do better in defence, having conceded in each of their last four MLS matches. It has also not been very rosy for them when playing away from home; they have lost six of their last 10 away MLS matches and won just three. With two clean sheets to show in their last 13 away MLS matches, and having failed to score in just three of 17, we can expect goals here. Red Bulls have failed to score in just one of the last six meetings with Atlanta United, and won four of the six.
