After seeing their unbeaten start to the MLS season end at Columbus Crew, Atlanta United will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host New York Red Bulls. This is the sixth match for both Eastern Conference sides and will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday. Ahead of this round, the hosts are 3rd in the conference standings with 10 points while the visitors are 11th with six points. With three wins and a draw from their first four matches, Atlanta were setting pace for the season, but a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Columbus Crew was a reality check. They still are in the top-half reckoning and are two points behind leaders New England Revolution in the conference. The hosts still remain a strong offensive side with their 12 goals the best in the conference so far. Even their home form is unblemished with seven points from three matches so far in this campaign.

New York Red Bulls have historically enjoyed playing Atlanta having won six and drawn three of their last nine MLS meetings against them. Their start to the season has been subdued so far though, with three draws and a win from their first five matches. The visitors will at least take comfort from the fact that they recovered from a losing start to the campaign. That loss came on their first away match of the season after which they drew their next two away MLS matches 1-1.
