Both Sociedad and Athletic Club cannot claim to be so happy with their starts to the season so far. Athletic Club have managed just one win in the season so far and they have developed a sequence of taking the lead in their matches then somehow letting that slip away and they have not managed a clean sheet this season, conceding 10 goals in their opening six matches of the season. They have not won any of the last three home matches, drawing two and losing one. Athletic Club will be facing a Sociedad side with two wins in the opening seven matches and just one clean sheet. Sociedad are a point above Athletic Club and they have failed to beat four sides below them this season. The loss to Valencia in their last game was particularly a hard one as they allowed Valencia their first win of the season but one factor that stands out for the visitors, Sociedad, is that from the eight points they have managed this season, they have banked seven in their away league matches. They have been weak at home but better on the road and coming fro0m a win over Huesca, they will be keen to replicate that. Athletic Club picked a 3 - 0 loss in their last home game and will be giving a performance to try and make their backyard a fortress like it was at some point last season.
