The Copa Del Rey heads into the quarter finals in midweek and among the teams that will be facing off, Athletic Bilbao will be at home to take on Real Madrid. This game comes about a fortnight after the two sides met in the Super Cup, which Real Madrid won 2-0 of course. Since that loss, Athletic Bilbao have claimed two wins and will be fired up for this. First, they beat Barcelona 3-2 in the last round of the Copa Del Rey then in La Liga, they beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 for their first clean sheet in four matches. Both sides have scored in five of Athletic Bilbao’s last 10 matches and they have only three clean sheets. They’ve won six of their last 10 games and only failed to score in three.

Real Madrid will be without Vinicius Jr. and Casemiro for their visit to Athletic Bilbao and Marcelo is suspended for the game, as they look for a lift after their 2-2 draw with struggling Elche in their last game. Signs of fatigue were clear in the game, Real Madrid coming from 2-0 down with goals in the final eight minutes, one of them a penalty. Karim Benzema had earlier missed a penalty in the game, and here they will have to push themselves more. Defensively, it hasn’t been great for Real Madrid; they have just three clean sheets in their last 10 matches, and only one of those has come in their last eight matches. However, in attack, they are doing well, having scored two or more goals in each of the last six matches. They’ve failed to score twice in the last 10 matches.
