Athletic Bilbao will play host to Girona in a crucial top-half battle in La Liga on Monday night. The hosts are currently in fifth place in the league standings, while the visitors are second. Athletic Bilbao have taken major strides forward this season and enter gameweek 25 still firmly in the race for European qualification. They moved to 46 points after 24 games with a 0-0 draw away to Almeria last weekend, leaving them five points off the Champions League places and eight points above Real Betis in sixth. That result also marked Bilbao’s fifth consecutive match without defeat in all competitions.
