The Gewiss Stadium is the venue for one last mouthwatering clash before the World Cup break, with Atalanta hosting Inter. La Dea fell to defeat against Lecce, in one of the grand surprises of the midweek round of Serie A games. The defeat was Atalanta’s third in their last four games, with the hosts falling in fifth place and level on points with Inter. The drop off in form can also be seen from the fact that Atalanta had remained unbeaten in their previous ten games before that run. Their recent results at the Gewiss Stadium had also not been encouraging. Atalanta seems better suited to play away from home and without too much of the ball, having managed just four wins in their last fifteen home games. They have also managed to prevail in just two of the last nine meetings with Inter in front of their own fans. 

The Nerazurri showed resilience and character in midweek, managing to respond to an early Bologna lead by treating them with a 6-1 thrashing. It was a much-needed victory for Inzaghi’s side, who had lost their last two games without scoring. Progress is evident overall however for Inter, who have won five of their last six in the Serie A. With Lazio being on the same number of points and Milan just three ahead of them, a victory here would also be crucial to enter the World Cup break with the best placing possible ahead of a gruelling return to action in early 2023. On the upside, they have triumphed in two of their last three league away games, having also lost just two of their last nine encounters in Bergamo.
