Atalanta vs Empoli Prediction & Betting Tips - Serie A

Sunday will see Atalanta hosting Empoli in a Serie A contest. The home side have been excellent on their own patch this season, winning 10 of their 15 games here, extending that into their European campaign. They have a Europa League semi-final coming up on Thursday against Marseille which might take a bit of focus off what they will be assuming is an easy three points here. To do that, they are going to have to up the level that they have been showing of late, winning just two of their last eight in Serie A and both of those coming on the road. Just a single point has been gained in their two home games in that time, 2-0 in front at halftime against Hellas Verona in a game that finished 2-2 and 1-0 up on Bologna before losing 1-2. Empoli are easier opponents than either of them but for a team who have been so good at home all season, they have been disappointing results.

Their visitors have lost their last three on the road without finding the back of the net. Two of those were at the two Milan teams, 0-1 at AC and 0-2 at Inter but a 0-1 loss at Lecce was a game that they perhaps will have hoped to get something out of, especially as that game was 0-0 until the 89th minute. It has been a struggle for goals away from home, being outscored two to one when they have been on their travels so far this season. They were no match for Atalanta when they clashed earlier in the season, 0-2 behind within half an hour and that is the danger here given their hosts have an excellent record of scoring in the first half.
