Aston Villa's hopes of automatic promotion back to the Premier League face a massive test this weekend. Villa are third in the table, four points behind second-placed Cardiff City and ten adrift of their opponents Wolverhampton Wanderers. A win will keep them in the hunt for a top two finish but failure to win could leave them seven behind Cardiff if they can beat relegation-threatened Birmingham City at home this weekend. Villa are in impressive form at present with their only loss in the last 11 league games, a 2-0 defeat at in-form Fulham, No disgrace in that result as Wolves lost to the Londoners last week, Aston Villa's home form has seen them unbeaten in their last nine, though they were held to a draw by Preston North End in their last match at Villa Park. Wolves are attracting some unwelcome off-the field attention in recent days but they got back to form with a 3-0 win at Leeds on Wednesday ending a run of three league games without a win. That took them six points clear at the top of the table and a win at Villa would take them a giant step forward in their bid to get back in the Premier League. They have only won three of their last seven away games though and the tip here is for a draw.
