Aston Villa suffered their third loss in four matches after once again failing to hold on to the lead, as they took on Manchester City in their last game. They will be at home against West Bromwich Albion next and hope to do better. Going to the game, Villa are placed 11th with 44 points while West Brom have 24 points in 19th place. A 2-1 loss to Manchester City left Villa with one win in their last seven league matches and without a clean sheet in the last five. They have now conceded twice in three of the last four matches but have failed to score in just one of the last five. Each of their last three matches has now produced over 2.5 goals. The continued absence of skipper Jack Grealish is affecting the team, with a clear lack of creativity in attack. It hasn’t been easier at home, the team winning one, losing three and failing to score in two of the last five. Apart from Grealish, they will also miss the suspended Matty Cash and the injured Trezeguet in this game.

After two straight wins, West Brom came crashing down in a 3-0 defeat at Leicester City, a result that badly dented their survival chances. Quick fire goals within 13 first half minutes extinguished any hopes West Brom had of a third straight win after beating Chelsea and Southampton earlier. Now they have to start all over again, and being nine points below 17th means the pressure has also gone higher, with six games remaining. West Brom have the most porous defence in the league, having conceded 62 goals already. Their recent matches have been high scoring too, each of the last three producing over 2.5 goals. They have four wins only in the last 15 league matches while the win over Chelsea remains their only one in seven away league games. In those seven away matches, out of the available 21 points, West Brom have secured just four. They’ve failed to score in four of their last five away league matches.
