Aston Villa vs Southampton Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Aston Villa may have had a big win in the EFL Cup on Tuesday but they won't be facing a youth team this weekend. They are 17th in the Premier League and host Southampton who are only a place below them and only on goal difference.  A win for the away side will plunge Villa into the relegation zone for Christmas. The home side have an almost identical record with Southampton, four wins, three draws and ten defeats. Villa come into this game having lost their last three league games. Defeats have been inflicted on them by Chelsea, Leicester City and Sheffield United, three of the current top five. Home form has seen them win three league games but the same number have been lost.

Southampton again find themselves in the relegation zone and have lost their last two league games. They were to Newcastle and West Ham, not quite as high as the opponents Villa have been facing. The Saints have only scored 18 goals in their 17 league games this season and have lost four of their eight away league games this season. They showed some decent away form earlier in the season with a couple of wins but the last five have only produced a couple of points. Southampton do regularly score on their travels and the confident bet here is for both teams to score in this match.
