A team from the Midlands will be in the final of the EFL Cup but will it be Aston Villa or Leicester City? The teams fought out a 1-1 draw in the first leg played at the King Power stadium. That means unlike in the other semi-final, both teams have a good chance of reaching Wembley. Leicester City had to come from behind to get that first leg draw but were going through a bit of a dodgy patch at the time. Their form has improved since then though with wins over West Ham and Brentford in the past week. They are strong on their travels and have won three of their last four. Already this season Leicester have played at Villa Park and came home with a 4-1 victory.
Aston Villa would love to get to Wembley and have a good League Cup record with five wins and three losing finals. Their last League Cup triumph was in 1996 and it's 10 years since they last reached the final. As much as they'd love to get to the final, surviving relegation is their main target for the rest of the season. What's more important, winning this game or getting a win at Bournemouth at the weekend? They are already out of the FA Cup so had a bit of a rest at the weekend but have some injury worries at present. Villa's main problem is defending with 45 league goals conceded this season. Home form has seen them win three and lose two of their last five, that includes the 5-0 quarter final win over a Liverpool reserve/youth team. Leicester can make life difficult for the shaky Villa defence that has only kept two clean sheets in their last six home games. Go for a Leicester win here.
