Aston Villa could only manage 13th place in their first season back in the Championship..That was 18 points away from the play-off positions and only 11 above the relegation zone. Needless to say but I'll say it, Villa will be wanting a much better season this time around. They only scored 47 league goals last season and have signed and still look a bit short up front. Signings have included John Terry, Glenn Whelan and Chris Samba as well as Ahmed Elmohadmady from today's opponents Hull City.  Hull were relegated from the Premier League last season and now have Leonid Slutsky in charge, another boss with little experience of English football, one day clubs will learn the lesson. Signings include Frazier Campbell from Crystal Palace who is worth a few goals at this level. Away form last year was terrible for Hull and that's a problem that has to be sorted out if they want to get back in the Premier League at the first attempt. Villa only lost three times at home last season and need to make Villa Park a fortress and reduce the number of draws, they drew 14 in all last season but were a top ten team in a form guide for the last 15 games of the season  Go for Villa to get their season off to a good start with a home win. 

Moses Odubajo, Will Keane, Ryan Mason and David Marshall are all injured.

Saturday's game marks Villa boss Steve Bruce's first reunion with Hull since leaving the Tigers in June 2016.
