Aston Villa will look to bounce back from a painful opening weekend defeat in the Premier League when they take on Everton at Villa Park on Sunday. The hosts are currently at the foot of the league table in the very early stages, while the visitors are in 15th place. Villa were one of the surprise packages last season and, under the guidance of Unai Emery, managed to secure a coveted Europa Conference League qualifier spot. Villa were incredible for the most part of the second half of the season and went on an run of ten matches unbeaten between February and April. In that time, they managed eight wins and two draws before ending the season unbeaten in their last three matches, which was capped off with a 2-1 over Brighton and Hove Albion on the final day. Villa have been tipped to push into the Europa League places this season, but they suffered a significant setback last week as they were taken apart 5-1 by Newcastle United. At home last season, they recorded 12 wins, two draws, and five losses, and also won their final seven home fixtures in succession. Villa have been the dominant side in this encounter of late, unbeaten in their last eight encounters against Everton, with six wins and two draws. They are also the clear favorites to win this one as well, according to the bookmaker's odds. 

Meanwhile, Everton will be hoping for a much better campaign this time around after barely surviving the drop last term. They spent a good chunk of the season below the dotted line and were involved in the relegation scrap right until the final day of the season when an Abdoulaye Doucoure goal saved them from the drop and sent Leicester City down instead. Perhaps the biggest concern from a Toffee's perspective is that they have not been able to bring in many significant signings over the summer period so far, which leaves many wondering where the change in their fortunes is going to come from. This became all the more evident last week when they lost their opening match of the season at Goodison Park 1-0 to a Fulham side that were far from their best. Still, under the guidance of Sean Dyche, Everton cannot be ruled out to relegation this season just yet, but they may find it hard to get anything from this one.
