Aston Villa haven’t been very convincing at these early stages of the season and they will hope for better times when they host Everton on Saturday. Villa go to the game placed 12th with four points while Everton are fourth with 10 points. The hosts are coming from a 3-0 loss to Chelsea, their second loss in the opening five matches of the season, and are winless in their last two matches. The only time they’ve managed a convincing win this season, Aston Villa beat Barrow 6-0 in the League Cup. They have two clean sheets in their last 15 league matches and at home, they are unbeaten in four – two wins and two draws. Against Everton, Villa are unbeaten in four matches, two of them wins.

Everton won’t get a perfect chance to stop their winless run against Villa; they are one of the teams in the league with the best form this season. They are not only unbeaten in their last five matches, but can go top of the table with a win here. In the five matches they’ve played this season, Everton have four wins and a draw. In their last game, Rafa Benitez’s men came from a goal down to beat Burnley 3-1. The only problem they still have to deal with is in defence – they have just one clean sheet in five matches. Even without the injured James Rodriguez, the Toffees have managed to score two or more goals in their last five matches. Four of their last five matches have as a result seen over 2.5 goals scored. Everton have a fine away run in the league, having lost only two of their last 17 league games played away from home.
