Aston Villa is a much improved outfit from the team that battled relegation last season and so far they have shown they can match the best. The team has recovered from a recent lull and is now on three straight matches unbeaten ahead of the home game against Crystal Palace. Villa are currently placed ninth with 22 points while Palace are 13th on 18 points. In their last match, Villa beat 10-man West Bromwich Albion 3-0 away from home and will hope home comforts come to play when Palace tours. The win over West Brom presented the third straight clean sheet for Villa and they have scored in nine of their last 10 matches, winning five in the last 10 games. In their last five matches, Villa have scored more than one goal in just one game but they have the second best defence in the league, having let in 13 goals. It will be very crucial for Villa playing well in this clash as they have no win in the last four home matches. They have lost three and drawn one – 0-0 with Burnley and they have conceded two or more goals in four of their last five home matches, while failing to score I n two of the five. Crystal Palace on the other hand, are coming from a nightmare performance against Liverpool, where they lost 7-0 at home. That defeat left them without a clean sheet in the last 13 matches, and have failed to score in the last five matches. The loss to Liverpool was their sixth loss of the season in the league. Palace have scored two or more goals in three of their last 10 matches, all Premier League, and have conceded two goals or more in three of the last 10 as well. Their only Premier League clean sheet this season came on the opening day of the season as they beat Southampton 1-0. While Palace will be underdogs in this game, they will be glad to welcome back Cristian Benteke, who finishes his one-match ban. Benteke, a former Aston Villa man will be hoping to return with a bang and having scored three goals in the last two matches he played, will definitely be fired up.
