Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Joseph King in Premier League Predictions
Aston Villa look to stop the bleeding in front of the home fans when they host relegation candidates Crystal Palace for matchday 12 of the English Premier League. We’ve got a few predictions lined up if you’re looking to bet on this match between the Villans and the Eagles!
Aston Villa are starting to feel the effects of a congested fixture list this campaign after qualifying for the Champions League with a fourth-place finish last year. Currently, the hosts sit ninth in the standings on a total of 18 points, putting them just one point behind third-place Chelsea.
As for Crystal Palace, the goal this season will undoubtedly be to retain their status as a top-flight club. It’s been a testing start for the Eagles who have won just a single match out of their opening 11. This has the visitors sitting 18th in the table on seven points, putting them one point from safety. Palace come into this fixture as the underdogs but recent success against Villa might have them believing they can spring a surprise.

Aston Villa - Crystal Palace: Form Analysis
Aston Villa return home looking to put an end to a four-game losing streak across all competitions. They were beaten 2-0 away to Liverpool in their last outing as they wasted five clear cut scoring chances.
It was their second consecutive Premier League defeat as Aston Villa have now dropped to a seasonal record of five victories, three draws and three defeats.
Prior to their four match losing streak, Aston Villa were on an 11-match unbeaten run across all competitions.
The upshot is that both of those losses have come on the road and Villa have largely been solid on their home patch so far in this campaign.
They’ve posted a 2-2-1 record at Villa Park in the league as well as two wins from two at home in the Champions League, one of which was a sensational 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich.
A 1-0 home win over Tottenham at the end of October likely bought Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner more time. Prior to that, the Eagles had a record of 0-3-5 and were beginning to dig themselves a hole they might not have been able to get out of.
Since the win over Spurs, Palace managed an away win over Aston Villa in the EFL Cup and an away draw with Wolves. Most recently, Crystal Palace fell to a 2-0 loss in front of their home fans to Fulham.

Aston Villa & Crystal Palace Squad Analysis
Full-back Matty Cash and Jacob Ramsey are both out for Aston Villa while Ross Barkley isn’t expected to make his return yet either.
Elsewhere, questions remain regarding the availability of center-back Pau Torres who withdrew from international duty with Spain to recover from a muscle injury. It was a similar story for Dutch defender Ian Maatsen and Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans who were both absent from their respective national teams.
Amadou Onana and Ezri Konsa were both sent home from their national teams early and could be in line to feature here. This game is likely too soon for Boubacar Kamara who is dealing with a hamstring problem.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner will be without no fewer than seven players for this trip to the West Midlands.
Chadi Riad (knee), Adam Wharton (groin), Jefferson Lerma (thigh), Rob Holding (undisclosed), Matheus Franca (abdominal) are all ruled out for varying degrees of time, while Will Hughes and Daichi Kamada miss out due to suspension.
The visitors will be sweating the fitness of Ebrechi Eze who makes up a large part of the Eagles’ attacking threat. The England international has not featured since the 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa and is questionable with a hamstring injury. Former Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah could also miss out.
