Aston Villa dropped points from a winning position for the second time in four league matches when Liverpool came visiting.
While a 2-2 draw would ordinarily be an encouraging result against a team of Liverpool’s caliber, Villa felt they should have won. They are now left without a win in five league matches, four of which ended in draws, sandwiching a 2-0 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
While they carry into this game a 13-match unbeaten league run at home, Villa only managed six wins in that period coming after the loss to Arsenal.
Both Chelsea and Villa are looking to return to winning ways.
Chelsea thrashed Villa 3-0 in their first meeting this season and will be looking to inflict the same here. That is easier said than done though. The Blues come into this game with just one win inside their last four matches.
Their latest two matches were against Brighton, the first in the FA Cup and the most recent in the league. Chelsea lost both those games, with the league one ending in an embarrassing 3-0 loss.
